its now confirmed that Facebook Is Not Going to Ban In Pakistan , rumours were spread earlier that facebook is going to get ban in Pakistan after petition was filled in Lahore high court subjecting the issue of hosting some blasphemous content online . Petition was filled by Azhar Siddique who himself denied the rumour and clearfied that LHC only ordered to ban certain URLS or Pages which hold such offensive content .

Facebook To Be Banned

The Lahore High Court Justice Sh Azmat Saeed ordered ministry of information and technology to block access to all websites in Pakistan especially American social networking website

As it was discussed last year that we should find a way to ban such pages not the entire website/socialnetwork. However if we think logically, If these people spread all this all over the internet then think , how many pages will we ban?

No Doubt Islam is a beautiful religion and teaches us tolerance. And according to Islamic teachings we must know that what anyone does they will eventually be answerable to The God on the Day of Judgement. When these people will realize that 90% of the people have no idea about such things until they start to advertise it. No Doubt that I am against the act of dishonouring of any religion including Islam and all prophets including Muhammad (SAW) but if we react against it by putting ban then we will be the root cause of spreading this dishonour in a sense that we make these evils active again. On rectifying this petition I would love to add that facebook do not launch any such pages as people do, themselves and according to many facebook statuses people were unable to find such blasphemous pages now as they have already been removed. And there is a term called block/report on facebook which can be used against these pages so why not the gov make a team of facebook users who start reporting such pages, if any.

Or should is say that, they are banning the Facebook as people are becoming aware of politics, religion, and today’s world. No one would disagree that Facebook is a source of knowledge or a forum where people can share their perspectives and thought which further result in the correction of believes.

So in short facebook is source of free knowledge and freedom of speech and putting a ban over it wont be an ideal decision. Its better to learn how to ban specific pages rather then blocking ip of a specific website

Facebook’s Upcoming Privacy Features

Facebook has publicized on its blog that they will be rolling out some new security and privacy control features in the upcoming days which would solve the privacy problems being faced by Facebook users. According to the security experts it is a positive step from the social networking giant and will defiantly make the completion between it and Google plus more tight.

According to Marian Merritt, Internet safety advocate with Symantec’s Norton “It seems to reflect some of what people have been asking for. The issues of privacy and of control over your data are a growing concern and consumers are paying more attention to them. However, the changes haven’t been rolled out yet, so I don’t know how hard they will be to configure. I’m pleased, but until I can start using them it’s all conjecture,”

Some of the new features which facebook has added seems to have been be borrowed form Google plus. For instance, the choice of sharing posts with ‘Public’ or ’Friends’ and the convenience of deeper privacy controls on profile information is much like what Google+ has come up with.

Google Officially Banned Co.Cc Domains From Search Engine

Few months back one of my blogs (running on a co.cc domain) was penalized by google.  Initially it was on page 1 of google for a particular keyword of Medium Competition but by the end of June it suddenly disappeared from the search results. Google had de-indexed it all of a sudden. At that time I was quiet sceptical about the reason why Google all of a sudden penalized my blog.

But now Google has officially announced that they have blocked free co.cc domain names in all over the world. Every blogger knows about co.cc it’s a company providing free domain names for personal use. Most of the bloggers used co.cc domain for adsense approval but unfortunately it won’t work now.

The reason behind this ban was answered by an Anti-Phishing operational Group, according to their research there have been 4966 phishing attacks done from co.cc domains in the first quarter of 2011. This was the main reason Google finally decided to block them all.

So, If you have a website with co.cc domain then you can move it to BlogSpot or WordPress immediately. I am sure Google will re-indexed your content and you will be back in the search engine result’s.

Pakistani officer wins International Female Police Peacekeeper Award

On Sunday 21 August 2011, Deputy Superintendent Shahzadi Gulfam of Pakistan received the 2011 United Nation’s award for International Female Police Peacekeeper Award.

Shehzadi (the Urdu word for princess) Gulfam may not be a princess like those in fairy tales but she has definitely become one in the police force.

Sunday was a day of joy and honour as The United Nations Police Division in the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI), Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO), and the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) International Scholarship Committee awarded the 2011 International Female Police Peacekeeper Award to Deputy Superintendent Shahzadi Gulfam.

She is currently rendering her services in the United Nations Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) as the United Nations Police (UNPOL) Team Leader posted in the Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL) Vulnerable Persons Unit (VPU) in the capital Dili.

After finishing her studies, Officer Gulfam had joined the Punjab Police in March 1985. She has showed excellent performance in her ‘two decades long’ at both national and international level.

She was the first Pakistani female to serve in the UN Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1997.

Speaking on Gulfam, UNMIT Police Commissioner Luis Carillho said, “UNPOL Shahzadi Gulfam has shown enthusiasm, diligence and zeal in her work with the Vulnerable Persons Unit in Dili. Despite working in difficult conditions, Officer Gulfam has played an exceptional role in supporting and protecting vulnerable persons”.

Currently, Officer Gulfam is responsible for facilitating the referrals to shelter and medical assistance to victims of domestic violence, as well as for reporting on missing persons and human trafficking. Her duties include liaising with the Justice Ministry to provide legal redress to victims. She also coordinates with health institutions on the provision of psychological support to victims, according to The Tribune.

Officer Gulfam received the award at the opening ceremony of the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) annual training conference on 21 August 2011 in Lexington, Kentucky, USA.

Officer Gulfam’s interst and dedication in her work earned her the award for which female police officers from 11 countries serving in seven United Nations peace missions worldwide, had been nominated for.

So, whoever said princesses were meant to stay locked up in towers and spend their lives in palaces, was wrong.
